Are you missing out on sales?
This one in particular is for people in Real Estate. Although this advice could be used in other markets as well.
Lets talk money. A tricky subject. How much, or how many properties, do you sell in a month? In a year? You know these numbers. Easy. Okay hotshot this one is going to be harder for you, I guarantee it. From the properties you sell how many of these people have vision impairments? Do you know? You might think that is a bit left field. Out of nowhere. There is a method to my madness! Here it is….
Real estate, sales, marketing, promotion, branding etc. the list really does go on, caters to a VERY visual market. Almost everything is meant to stir your visual centres. Houses on the market often have virtual tours, colourful pictures, in-depth written descriptions etc. This is great, not complaining at all. However, what if I told you there are 2 MILLION people living with sight loss in the UK alone. Of those 2 million, 360,000 are registered blind or partially sighted. That is a huge chunk of the potential market that you could be potentially missing out on completely. Not intentionally but it is very difficult to cater to everyone’s needs. You might think that these people can use the text to speech application to help them. You are correct. For sure, you can use this feature and they have but have you ever used it? It is bland, boring, monotonous and quite often cannot pronounce certain words correctly. It is cynical, sterile and has zero emotional weight to it. I wouldn’t want to represent whatever I am selling in this way. There is a solution to this though.
If you already have fantastic written descriptions, guess what? You already have a script. If you have virtual tours or video tours, guess what? You already have the video needed to attach a voice over to. I can do that! Very easily. If you want to emotionally connect a person with sight issues to a property you NEED a voice over. Replace that text-to-speech with a real person, a real connection to a place or property or whatever it is you are selling. 2 Million people living with sight loss. Let me say that again for the people in the back. 2 Million people. I think in this visual world, they might be feeling a little left out. Cast to the side. What if you as the seller, accommodated their needs for once? Do you think they would appreciate it? You bet your 2 million people they will! I guarantee you they will be a client/customer for life.
